Individual solutions for removal of undesirable substances

In addition to generation of extractions and degreased raffinates, our technology makes it possible to significantly deplete undesirable ingredients. Undesirable accompanying substances which negatively influence the following process steps are also removed using compressed CO2.

Decreasing of xanthin

The origins of the process of supercritical CO2 extraction are based on decaffeination of coffee or tea. In this way decaffeinated tea is suitable for production of drinks for children. In addition to caffeine from coffee or tea, the content of other stimulating xanthines such as theophylline from cocoa can be significantly reduced.

Decreasing of colouring and odorous substances

Often lipophilic extracts from leaves or stems contain large amounts of chlorophyll. By specific choice of parameters and of process flows, the extraction of the green colouring agent can be significantly reduced or chlorophyll removed from extracts. At the same time it is possible to reduce unpleasant odours from the natural materials and extracts.

Advantages of our CO₂ production process for purification

No further or supplementary harmful substances materialize during CO2 extraction process. The raw materials or extracts are treated only with pure carbon dioxide, which is diffused out of the raw materials again after extraction.
