For more than 30 years, NATECO2 has specialised in extracting natural substances using supercritical CO2. As customers place more and more emphasis on naturalness, quality and environmentally-friendly processes, the advantages of this technology for food and beverage, cosmetics, nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals have become apparent: Inert atmosphere, moderate conditions during processing and the absence of organic solvents and oxygen mean that products are only exposed to minimal strain.

Originating in the hop industry the technology was successfully developed and applied to the refinement of natural oils, fats and waxes, the extraction of spices and herbs as well as the decaffeination of tea and coffee.

NATECO2 holds several patents in this field which display the innovative character of its employees and the company itself.

Nowadays NATECO2 is the world’s largest producer of supercritical carbon dioxide derived hop extract, with an annual throughput of some 10,000 tons of hops as well as many tons of a multitude of natural substances. Furthermore NATECO2 develops new applications adapted to customer’s needs. Ongoing innovations - especially by increasing capacity in the area of very high pressure up to 1,000 bar - guarantee NATECO2’s status as the world market leader in CO2-based extraction.
